Household finance, kept honestly

Know where the money actually went

Most expense apps call every outgoing rupee "spending" and then produce numbers nobody trusts. ZenDebt keeps the distinctions that matter — so the figure you see is the one you can act on.

The four things most apps get wrong

Each of these makes your spending look bigger than it was. ZenDebt records them for what they are.

The same month, counted two ways

One household, one month. On the left, everything that left an account. On the right, what was actually spent.

Everything that left₹82,000
Spending33,000
Actually spent₹33,000

A difference of ₹49,000 in one month — the gap between a number that worries you and a number you can plan with.

What is inside

Every kind of money

Income, expenses, investments, transfers, planned bills, recurring rules, money lent with interest, and cheques you have written.

The whole household

Members, accounts, vehicles with cost per kilometre, contacts, and categories that ask for the details each one needs.

Reminders that arrive

Set a bill to remind you three days before, on the morning, or both. Email, in your language, never at night.

Reports that answer questions

By month, day, category, member or vehicle — plus statistical outliers, described as statistics and never as advice.

Ask in your own words

"How much on petrol in August?" — by voice or text, English or Hindi. It reads only your records, and refuses rather than guessing.

Private by construction

The database itself refuses a query that crosses households. Not the app code — the database.

Why this exists

A family's money is recorded by whoever is nearest the phone, in seconds, or it is not recorded at all. So entering the milk money has to be fast, the categories have to know what they need, and the totals have to be honest enough that somebody bothers to look at them. That is the whole design.
